Avocados.
They’re all ripe and ready to go and you don’t have a party. Maybe you got them on sale, maybe you have a tree and they’ve all fallen off at the same time. What are you going to do with them?
LET’S FREEZE EM!
I’ll give you the step by step on How to Freeze Avocado.
Here’s how;
8 to 10 avocados, one lemon and 3-4 quart sized freezer bags…that’s the example I’ve used in the video below. Oh YA – there’s a vid!
First, cut them open from the stem, longways. The rind is a little tough. Push through and you’ll feel the pit in the middle. From there use the knife and work your way around the avo. Be careful! After you’ve halved them, lay them out on a cutting board and get rid of the pits.
Next, quarter your lemon into wedges. Squeeze the lemon over the bright green flesh exposed. Use your fingers and make sure they’re all coated. This will help keep their color better!

Now, you’re going to use a large spoon and scrape out the avocado flesh from the rind, carefully. You’ll feel the bottom of the rind, you’re going to work your way around the entire edge and get one big spoon of avocado! Then flip it over on your cutting board and squeeze more lemon on this side.
They’re all lemon’d up and ready to go in the freezer bags. For a quart size bag about four large or to six small avocado halves will work fit in each. Use your knife (or a spatula) and guide the avocado’s in to the bag single layer. Once in bags you can smash them down just a little bit so they’re easier to stack! They’ll take up less room, now pop em’ in the freezer.
Note;
They will turn a little darker color, they’re not going to be bright green. The texture is better for guacamole, smoothies or even an avocado mousse! I hope all of these tips helped you save those gorgeous precious avocados for another day.
They will last in the freezer for at least two months, I’m guessing they’ll be gone sooner than that – enjoy!
